T-Excursions

Entertainment, Technology, Leadership at School

Do you want to play with a scalpel, reveal causes of big catastrophes, control methods for isolation of DNA or a software for modelling of chemical reactions in 3D, and understand the basics of robotics or making of GMO? Haven´t you come across these at school?

Visit T-Excursion!

Taste the university education. Visit laboratories and find out more about a specialization you  may want to study in the future such as veterinary medicine, microbiology, computer chemistry, bioinformatics, astronomy, molecular biotechnology, genetics, mathematics, ecotoxicology, and many more…

How does it work?

  • It is enough to be a high - school student in South Moravia or somewhere else.
  • Choose a topic from the offer, which interests you. Then register yourself and log on.
  • The study materials on your chosen topics will display on your account.
  • Fill in the test which follows – this is a ticket to a laboratory. Please note that a lecturer may choose students in case of a greater interest in a subject.
  • After results are displayed on your account, you may choose a date for your visit to a laboratory.
  • You can make a T-report at the end and get a small award.
  • Everything is for free. You only pay for your journey to get there.

How to register?

Registrations for T-excursions are open twice a year, usually in October and in April. We are currently preparing a spring course. Once everything is ready, we are going to inform you on our JCMM Facebook and the previous students of T-excursions by email. All the information is going to be available on our JCMM website.

Fuel under the blackout

When the fire is lit and the sausages are toast, the theater flames in front of us, which seems chaotic and out of order.

By detailed knowledge, however, we find that, according to precise rules, there is a tireless repetition of exothermic reactions that occur in places with precisely defined concentrations of oxygen and volatile flammable substances. The volatile flammable gas escapes invisibly from the logs that are heated above the specified temperature. The heating of the logs is clearly determined by the transmission of heat that spreads through conduction, radiation and convection. Whether or not the ash remains in the fireplace, or the black vagina is affected by the amount of oxygen present and the temperature.

If you want to know more about what's in the coal lumps, how much flammable gas leaves the log, how to measure the heat released from a gram of straw, or how to compress the paper into a form of fuel briquettes. Sign up for a T-Excursion, I'll be happy to show you and add more ...

In the theoretical part, you will learn basic information about all types of fuels used. The main parameters and interesting properties of flammable substances will be presented. Furthermore, combustion issues including negative environmental impacts will be presented. Then we will add practical information on what types of boilers we can now buy to heat our homes, which are more environmentally friendly, longer lasting and never to buy.

In the practical part of a personal meeting, you will jointly try to measure the calorific value of the coal, determine the moisture content of the wood, find out how many gaseous substances are hidden in a piece of wood, produce charcoal and push our own fuel briquettes. In the actual combustion plant, we discuss how and how we can control the combustion process and what to do to avoid unwanted substances leaving the ash and chimney. Everything ends with a tour of technology that produces flammable gas powered by combustion engines from wood.

Story of a stroke or become a physician for a day

Do you want to learn how to save life easily when a stroke strikes?

The brain death, which is the second most common cause of death, will die more than a heart attack, but few know how to recognize it and how to react properly.

Come to our T-Excursion and see how top doctors fight against her. In addition, you will receive the knowledge and experience of non-payment. You will learn how to detect and respond to the stroke correctly. Our research team will explain why the vascular disease generally occurs (including a heart attack) and video simulation to see what's going on inside the patient's body. We will also work on methods of treatment and prevention. You will be able to verify your knowledge through the HOBIT e-learning program.

Then you will find out what happens to the patient who is brought to the hospital by an ambulance. We go through the so-called "patient path". Let's start with a review of the most advanced diagnostic devices, such as CT, MR (some devices will be able to test), then look at the ICU, where we take care of the first critical hours and days for new CMP patients, and finally look at the bed room. We also visit the Simulation Center, where doctors and nurses train fast and accurate patient care and get the simple "clueless" case. At the end of the story, a former female patient in our department, who suffered a stroke at the age of 21, will tell you the story.
